Heidi Lucy Loses Her Mind
by Gracie Ruth Mitchell

Summary
Heidi Lucy has a secret—a big one. A scary, dangerous, ugly one.
There’s just one problem: thanks to a mysterious head wound, she can’t seem to remember what that secret is.
In order to regain her lost memories, Heidi sets out to retrace her steps—followed grudgingly by Soren, a faithful patron of her little bookshop and the less-than-thrilled recipient of the cryptic voicemail she can’t remember leaving. But her journey gets derailed when one of Heidi’s customers drops dead in the middle of her shop, and it isn’t long before both Heidi and Soren come under suspicion. Something fishy is going on in Sunshine Springs, and if they want to find the truth, they’re going to have to hunt for it themselves.
Who killed the woman in Heidi’s bookshop? What secret has Heidi forgotten? And, maybe the most crucial question of all: Who gave Soren permission to look so good in a man bun?
Heidi Lucy Loses Her Mind is the second in a series of interconnected standalones involving swoony romance, wacky comedy, and dead bodies turning up in the most unlikely of places.
My Review
After finishing Juniper Bean Resorts to Murder, I knew I had to dive into Heidi Lucy Loses Her Mind, the companion book in this charming duology. I listened to the audiobook, and once again, the narrators were fantastic (it’s the same narrators as the first book), perfectly capturing the dual POV that added so much depth to the story.
This cozy mystery meets romcom was an absolute delight! The blend of tension-filled mystery and swoony, heartfelt romance works beautifully, creating a fun, feel-good story that had me laughing, swooning, and trying to solve the murder alongside the characters.
Heidi Lucy is one of the most unique and endearing characters I’ve ever encountered. She’s quirky, sweet, bluntly awkward, and completely lovable. She’s hard-working but hilariously prone to ending up in situations she probably shouldn’t be in. Soren, with his golden man bun and endless patience, is the perfect match for Heidi. His charm, devotion, and head-over-heels love for her were utterly swoon-worthy. If you love a slow-burn, friends-to-lovers romance with the male lead falling first, this book is for you!
The small-town setting and Heidi’s cozy bookshop added so much charm and warmth. The murder mystery was intriguing and kept me guessing until the end, and the emotional layers of the story—self-discovery, relationships, and personal growth—elevated it beyond just a romance or mystery.
This book works perfectly as a standalone, but I’m so glad I read the first one because Juniper and Aiden make a delightful appearance here! Seeing them again filled me with so much joy and brought a huge smile to my face—it was like reconnecting with old friends in the most heartwarming way.
Gracie Ruth Mitchell has quickly become one of my favorite clean romance/cozy mystery authors. Her books are funny, emotional, and highly entertaining, and this one is no exception. This book is so well-written, heartfelt, and brimming with cozy vibes. I can’t recommend it enough!
