As the weather started warming up and spring slowly rolled in, I found myself completely craving historical fiction and Regency romance. There’s just something about reading sweeping romances, cozy countryside settings, elegant ballrooms, and emotional character journeys during this time of year that feels so comforting. So in the first quarter of 2026, I fully leaned into those genres and ended up reading 12 books that ranged from historical drama and romance to Christian fiction.
I also finally started a popular novella series that so many readers have been talking about, and honestly, it was the perfect seasonal reading experience. Along the way, I picked up two classic middle grade books that gave me the sweetest nostalgic springtime vibes. A lot of these stories felt incredibly cottagecore in the best way, with gardens, small villages, tea, countryside walks, and all the cozy atmosphere I could want this season.
So today, I’m sharing all 12 books I read, my thoughts on them, which ones surprised me the most, and the few that completely stole my heart. Many of these books are also available on Kindle Unlimited if you’re a member.
